Hello! My name is Emily and I am a current high school student. I'm conducting an interview with any professional in the Trauma Therapist field for a Foundations in Health Science Class project about careers! I have created a total of some questions that I am curious about in this profession.

1. What profession did you choose? Why?
2. How many years of college did you go through?
3. What jobs did you work on before you landed your present professional job?

Hi Emily,
1. What profession did you choose? Why? I originally wanted to be a veterinarian, but I took an Abnormal Psychology class as an elective and loved it. I changed my major to Psychology. I knew I wanted to be a counselor and that I needed a Master's Degree. I chose a Master's in Community Counseling.
2. How many years of college did you go through? 4 undergrad, 2 1/2 grad
3. What jobs did you work on before you landed your present professional job? I was a volunteer on a rape crisis hotline ( volunteering is a good place to start work) in my junior year and this led me to a paid position as the Rape Crisis Hotline Volunteer Coordinator. I left there one I finished school and worked full time as a Crisis Counselor at a 24 hour crisis center. That is where I became a fully licensed counselor.
