What is your favorite/least favorite part of being a medical professional?

What is your career? What do you love about your job? What do you not love about your job?
I'm interested in pursuing a career in the medical field but there are so many different careers, I don't know where to start looking. I'm curious about the different kinds of jobs in medicine and health and I hope this will help me learn more about them. #doctor #nurse #pediatrician #surgeon

One of the things I wish I had known more about when I was younger were more about all the different types of clinicans aside from just traditional MD's. If at all possible, I would suggest trying to shadow different types of clinicans & providers to get a better sense of whether or not this is the type of career that you'd like to pursue. Many people have an idea that they would like to go to med school, but statistically, only 1 in 3 pre-med students actually go on to med school. For those that do, many do not decide what type of speciality they would like to go into until much later in med school after clinical rotations when they're applying for residency. If you are interested in research, you may consider looking into public health. Definitely keep your grades up through high school & if you're able to take AP classes to get sophomore standing that may help you down the road with your course load.

Hi! I've been a nurse for 28 years. It's a great profession. I love getting feedback from people that I have helped them. I love learning more all the time and I love the teamwork. The tough parts are the night shifts and holidays. People need healthcare 24/7. So shift work is required and always will be for hospital jobs. Hope this helps!
