1. Take some courses related arts, media production, drawing, etc. in the high school
2. Keep practising the skills and techniques yourself. Practise makes perfect!
3. Find out the entry criteria of relevant subjects in the college, e.g. Media Production, Animation, etc.
4. Explore any internship opportunities in animation production companies

I think it is awesome that you are looking at starting life as an animator! Exciting!
I would say always have a sketchbook with you to do real life sketches of the characters you create to animate. This can get the creativity going which you can then use in a digital program on a tablet or computer.
I think it's a good start to go to You Tube and search for basic animation information. I bet they will suggest basic free programs to check out to start animating your characters and ideas.
Keep your dreams alive and practice, learn and PLAY. Have fun on this journey!
