Hi Henry,
Yes, you can improve your study skills on YouTube. If you just type "study skills" in the YouTube search box, it will show you many videos on study systems.
You'll have to look around for something that works for you because not everyone learns in the same way. Not everybody has the same problem with studying, and therefore not every study system works for every student.
You might also want to look at what exactly makes your studying difficult and how it can be improved. Are you easily distracted? Are you procrastinating? Do you have difficulties retaining what you learned? Can you exclude conditions like ADHD or Autism-spectrum disorder? Maybe you have a learning disability? Or, maybe you are actually doing fine, but your own high standards drive you batty. If you have a school psychologist, maybe have a chat with them. They might have some ideas.
I hope this helps a bit. Good luck with your studies! You are on your way!

I am a learning professional for over 30 years and I want to applaud you for exploring this topic. In today's world, access to learning is broader than it ever has been. Being an effective learner is like having keys to any and every thing you want. Instead of trying to learn one thing, learning how to learn effectively and efficiently will open doors!
YouTube is great for content, but learning skills come from how you practice, reflect, and connect ideas. AI can act like a personal learning coach — helping you turn videos into skills as well as information. Try using the prompt below into Chat GPT or any other general AI engine:
Prompt:
Act as a learning coach. Help me build strong learning skills using YouTube and AI.
First, ask me 3–5 short questions to understand:
what I’m trying to learn
how I usually study
where I get stuck (focus, memory, confidence, applying ideas, etc.)
Then create a simple 4-week plan that helps me improve how I learn, not just what I learn.
The plan should include:
how to use YouTube videos actively (not passively watching)
reflection or thinking prompts after videos
small practice activities
ways AI can quiz me, challenge my thinking, or help me explain ideas
Keep the plan practical, realistic, and short.

You can develop strong learning skills on YouTube — and you can make that learning even better by applying a bit of critical thinking along the way. Tips on how to use critical thinking on YouTube:
- Check credibility: Look for creators who explain how they know what they know, cite sources, or demonstrate expertise.
- Compare tutorials: Watch more than one video on the same topic to spot inconsistencies or better approaches.
- Question simplicity: If something seems “too easy,” ask yourself whether the creator skipped important steps.
- Look for structure: Prefer playlists or series that build skills progressively rather than random standalone videos.
Also, think of other tools to supplement your YouTube learning. A couple of suggestions:
- Khan Academy or Coursera for structured lessons
- freeCodeCamp for coding
- Duolingo for languages
- OneNote for note‑taking
Lastly, keep track of the skills you are acquiring:
- Use a simple tracker (Excel, for instance) to log what you learned and what you want to practice next.
You’re already thinking with the right mindset — combining YouTube’s accessibility with thoughtful evaluation and other tools will make your learning even more effective. Let me know if you want help building a mini learning plan!
