That question presupposes that there are people seeking your help in interior design. Despite needing the creative skills, you also need to be able to market your talents to attract customers. The good news is that, once you establish a good reputation, you will be in a good position to decide how many customers you will accept at a time. And that will free you to enjoy the work. I wish you well.

Tashnim’s Answer

Hello Hannah,

As a large language model, I don't have a personal career or background like an interior designer would. Interior designers typically don't have set hours, especially early in their careers. The number of hours worked can vary depending on factors like:

Employment Type: Working at a large design firm might involve a more consistent 40-50 hour workweek, while freelancers can have much more variable schedules depending on client needs and project deadlines.
Project Stage: Initial design phases might require more research and concept development, leading to longer hours. Later stages focusing on implementation and execution might have a more typical work schedule.
So, while I can't tell you an exact number of hours, expect some flexibility and potentially longer hours, especially early on or during busy project phases.

Thank you. Good luck!

Linda’s Answer

I worked every hour I could and did the jobs no one else wanted, for instance, after a week of rain I went to measure a muddy and water soaked project under construction I had been working on and learned so much about managing the unique set of problems the site offered and was prepared when it happened again. If you consider every hour you put in as preparation for a experienced and knowable Designer you will be one and your clients better for it.
