How is college different from high school?
I'm in a very rigorous program in my high school (the IB program), and I was wondering how the course load differs? #College #IB

I love the IB hashtag! I'm speaking from my experience as a former IB student and a college graduate. I know IB can be tough with its 8 classes, intense exams, and essays, all while trying to manage your personal life. It's definitely a challenge.
Even though I didn't enjoy it at the time, looking back, it taught me so much. I've learned valuable lessons that I use in my career today. IB helped me understand the importance of managing my time well and knowing when to ask for help. In college, you're in charge of everything—your classes, meals, sleep, and homework. Thanks to IB, I learned self-discipline and how to balance work with having fun.

For me, the biggest difference between high school and college was the freedom that you have on campus in college. You must balance your scholarly responsibilities with everyday chores and socializing with friends. High school is very structured while college is less structured. Thanks.

1. Discipline - There are no bells or teachers telling you to go to class. If you are on campus, Mom is not there to wake you up.
2. Freedom - What do you want to do on the weekend study or party?
3. Workload - Study!!! The amount of work in college makes high school a joke. And, of you pursue higher education forget a social life!
4. Relationships - The relationships you build in college can impact your career or careers in your family for generations {nepotism}
5. Rewarding - Earning a degree is one of the most rewarding things you can do. {Be smart so it isn't financially draining}

I would agree with Jason, for me the biggest difference was in college you are treated like an adult because most people in college are and they figure you are paying to be there so you should participate.

I took IB in high school when I graduated in 2017 and attend UCLA as a third year currently. College is basically a crafted experience where you set your own agenda such as class schedule, lunch time, and other time sensitive things. Meanwhile, IB is more of a strict guided curriculum filled with deadlines and side projects. In my opinion, college workload and coursework is a lot easier to deal with when compared to IB - especially AFTER going through IB. Hope I helped, good luck!
Sincerely,
Paul
