More Than RN?

I'm not there yet, but I'm working towards getting my RN. I am currently taking pre-reqs and hope to apply this year or next year for the LPN to RN bridge. Any thought about staying, (I don't want to say just and I don't mean that with any disrespect at all, but I don't know how else to say it), just an RN or keep going back to school to get BSN or even higher? I am 42 and have 4 children (17 yr old boy, 14, 9 and 3 yr old girls). Needless to say, I'm going to have kids in my house for a long time. And I have to try to work and go to school to make sure I am providing for these kids. I guess I'm asking, do I stop and be satisfied with RN or try to push myself to go back to school for more? School is not easy for me, I struggle with juggling kids, work and school and trying to make good grades.... #registered-nurses #nursing

If you're currently balancing things like kids, family, etc., perhaps you should continue pursuing all of these things once you feel financially stable and most importantly, ready. It's hard to do things we're not ready for, so forget all other expectations.

First let me say WAY TO GO! I am now a mother of an RN and she studied a lot and I made he only work one day a week as I really wanted her to focus on her passion in the medical field. I can't imagine juggling kids, work and nursing school. So her is my suggestion, don't settle on being an RN if you want more but get your RN license and then you will be more financially set. Once you do this and you are working as an RN take classes to become more. Don't dive in head first, take your time with classes, this will take the stress off and you can still accomplish your dream if it is still your dream.
Thank you comment icon Thank you for the reply. I'm not one of those people that has "always known" they wanted to be a nurse. I really just figured this out within the past few years. I was a stay at home mom. That's just what I did. But I have realized I love nursing and want to make this a long-term career. I will definitely keep going to school and learn everything I can. Julie
