Can I get into a mit with a 3.5 gpa?

I’m in tenth grade and love engineering but I ruined my gpa in middle school when I wasn’t sure what a gpa was. Now I’m serious about my future but i think I messed it up. #engineering

Katera: I do not know what a "mit" is. Do you mean Mass. Institute of Technology (MIT)?

Do not worry about your middle school grades. The colleges you apply to will only evaluate your high school grades. If you are serious about engineering, then you should take all four years of math in high school. It would be especially beneficial to take Calculus in your Senior Year. Become involved in several service clubs or an engineering-related club (Robotics?). This will help distinguish you in the eyes of college application reviewers. Finally, when communicating with engineering-related schools, activities, etc., take great care to use good grammar. For instance always Capitalize "I" when referring to yourself. You will always need to "put your best foot forward" in the engineering profession.

Theresa’s Answer

I'm surprised a middle school GPA counts for anything. It's supposed to prepare you for high school, not be merged with it. I'd check into this first.
Also, if a college sees good ACT scores coupled with a steady nudging up of your GPA, especially if the classes are increasingly more difficult, they will look at you. Be sure you are getting things into place asap. Go see your counselo tomrw. Can't get things going soon enough.

Good luck, t
