Why do most college students feel singled out?

Most college students feel singled out because they either feel lost or out of place amongst other students around campus or even in the classroom. One tip that can help is making friends around campus or even joining a club to feel apart of something in order to connect with others around you. It may seem difficult at first but can always start small by making a simple introduction anywhere with someone that looks friendly.

Hi Samantha,

Just to add on to your above answer:

Many college students may feel singled out due to factors such as academic pressure, social dynamics, or personal struggles. Solution could be fostering a sense of community through support groups, mentorship programs, and campus-wide initiatives promoting inclusivity and understanding. It is really important that a student should stay in an environment where students feel valued and supported can help mitigate feelings of isolation and promote a sense of belonging.

It’s not a magic but such feelings come eventually when you welcome changes around. It’s the mind set. Try to make it free and more welcoming. Don't shut it because of any bad event.

I hope it helps!

All the best!

Hey Samantha, honestly I would say your answer to your question is spot on. It's really important to foster a connection to the college you're at, and often times this comes in the form of the people you meet. It's a great idea to make simple introductions whenever you get a chance, most people are friendly and also looking to meet/talk to someone! And as you already mentioned, joining a club or extracurricular activity can be equally as important, since this can help you build a new passion you enjoy while meeting new people at the same time.

The more integrated you become at your college, the more connection and belonging you will feel towards the school. As long as you are always trying to grow and put yourself out there, good things will happen!
