Allison’s Answer

Hi Henry,

To become a renewable energy expert as an electrical engineering student, it is essential to have a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, renewable energy technologies, and sustainability practices.
Professional expertise in areas such as solar power, wind energy, energy storage systems, and grid integration is crucial. Additionally, expertise in energy efficiency, environmental impact assessment, and project management are valuable skills.
Ethical considerations such as promoting sustainable development, minimizing environmental impact, and ensuring safety and reliability in renewable energy projects are also important.
Resources such as the IEEE Power & Energy Society and the American Solar Energy Society provide valuable information and networking opportunities for aspiring renewable energy experts.
Websites like Renewable Energy World and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory offer in-depth articles, reports, and case studies to stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in the field.
Specific examples of expertise include designing efficient solar photovoltaic systems, optimizing wind turbine performance, and implementing smart grid solutions for renewable energy integration.

Best wishes to you!

Cory’s Answer

Agree with the responses above but would add that as a student your tool box needs to focus on basic concepts but you will need to focus on one type of renewable. The job market is becoming highly specialized again so I would choose one and work on getting certification on that renewable through an online platform in addition to your education.
