What is the best way to get started on applying for internships or gaining experience in the field of computer engineering?
I'm a college student pursuing a major in computer engineering. I want to gain experience in the field to be ready for the workforce. How would I get started in doing so?

I would add to this many of the large companies have paid internships and programs around this in the USA. I call out the USA because that is where my experience with this lies. They start their recruiting for these paid internships as early as the Fall before the Summer you may end up interning and these slots get filled quickly. They often times have all their slots filled by November. I would start researching what companies you are interested in and be ready to start applying in the Fall.
Most of these large companies are excited about their internship programs and the interns, this is potentially their future workforce, too.
Lastly, many in my experience are looking for interns who are finishing their second year in college, some do accept individuals that only have 2 semesters of college, but most want you to be finishing your second year.
