What if I can't find housing for college?

I have been searching for housing near my college of choice but have not been able to find anything I can actually afford. The college itself does not offer housing/dorms or any sort of assistance in finding any. What am I supposed to do if I can't even live near my college?

Well first, have you thought about how far from your home to the college it is, maybe since you can't find a dorm to stay in you can stay at home and go to college. A lot of college don't provide or have live in dorms, where students find it easier for them and it cut cost with tuition. It gives them that feel of a working college student. It's more of an experience to be in the college than living in the college. I remember when I was in college,I had the same problem, but I looked at it in a different way, I wasn't there to live on the campus, I was there to experience the live of college and what it gave me and now I can always go back and miss the school and the people I connected with.

Hi Ambre, I would also recommend seeing if your college has a facebook page or any type of open communication blog where students can ask questions to other former students to get some ideas around what they did when attending. I would also consider if you know anyone in the area or also attending that school you could live with to share expenses. When looking at apartments, make sure to see if they have any "studio" options as opposed to just 1/1s. While less space, these are usually the most affordable options. Good Luck!
