Is it better to be a part of Doctors without Borders early or later in my career?

I am an aspiring surgeon and I absolutely love to help others. However, I understand college can be expensive and that it will take me a few years to grow accustumed to the job. So, is it better for me to wait and settle into the pace of hospitals here or to go and gain experience before I begin working here? #Medicine #PublicHealth #surgery

It is my understanding that you will need several years of experience as a practicing physician prior to working for Doctors without Borders. That said, I think that whenever you are ready and can donate your time, go for it. They have an amazing mission.

Great question! Doctors Without Borders is a big time commitment. Many people join early before establishing a busy practice so that they can commit completely to the program. Others establish their practice then wait several years to use their time off to participate. It's an amazing program. You will find the right time. Best of luck!
