Kumar’s Answer

To learn math from scratch effectively, treat YouTube like an active classroom rather than a passive streaming service:

Active Note-Taking: Never just watch. Pause the video, write down the definitions, and try to solve the example problems on paper before the creator shows the solution.

The Feynman Technique: After watching a concept, try explaining it out loud to an imaginary student in simple terms. If you stumble, re-watch that section.

Use Complementary Practice: YouTube builds intuition, but math requires muscle memory. Pair videos with free practice platforms like Khan Academy to solve actual problem sets.

Kumar’s Answer

To learn math from the beginning, use YouTube as a place to actively work, not just watch:

Stay Engaged: Pause the video often. Try solving the problem yourself before continuing to see if your thinking matches.

Follow a Plan: Start with Khan Academy for its clear, step-by-step lessons.

Build Understanding: Watch 3Blue1Brown for deeper explanations of why things work.

Practice a Lot: Turn to The Organic Chemistry Tutor for lots of practice exercises.

Check Your Knowledge: After watching, try to explain the idea in your own words. If you struggle, watch the video again.

Combine these videos with practice problems on Khan Academy to make sure you're really learning, not just remembering.

Andrew’s Answer

YouTube videos are great learning resources. However, you need to know what you are looking for to make YouTube videos the great resources you want them to be. Therefore, YouTube videos cannot be the main learning medium.

Also, we do not know what you mean by learning mathematics from scratch. You need to start somewhere. It can be arithmetic, pre-algebra, algebra, trigonometry, …..

Mathematics is a language. Hence, you should start the learning journey systematically. A viable and appropriate way is to get a reasonable textbook for the target area. It would be best to work with your teacher to identify the suitable textbooks for what you would like to learn. Then, YouTube vides will be a great supplementary learning resource.
