Thanks for your question, Sam!
There will be a huge increase in demand for therapists during the next ten years. Job growth for mental health counselors, marital and family therapists, and clinical psychologists is expected to be faster than average, with some positions experiencing growth of 18–22% by 2032, according to projections from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). A number of reasons have contributed to this, including a greater emphasis on emotional well-being in communities, companies, and schools, as well as a decrease in stigma and an increase in mental health knowledge.
If you are considering a career in counseling or therapy, you are exploring a profession that is not only expanding but also extremely important and influential. Depending on your interests and the level of schooling you want to pursue, you may choose to become a licensed professional counselor (LPC), clinical social worker, marriage and family therapist (MFT), school psychologist, or even a pediatric psychologist.
You may wish to consider exploring this topic today, whether through psychology classes, volunteer work, or even conversations with professionals in the field. It's a profession where they can actually have an impact.
Best wishes!

The need for therapists is set to rise a lot over the next ten years. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics says jobs in mental health fields will grow quicker than most other jobs. For example, jobs for substance abuse, behavioral disorder, and mental health counselors are expected to go up by 18% from 2022 to 2032. Jobs for psychologists are also expected to grow by 7% from 2023 to 2033, which is faster than average. This growth is happening because more people are aware of mental health issues and there is more demand for mental health services in places like outpatient centers, hospitals, and residential facilities.
