What is the best part of teaching, specifically teaching history, to high school students What are the largest challenges to teaching high school students? #Spring25

I am planning to attend USI and getting a History Teaching degree (a program that gets me a teaching degree along with a history degree). What is the most difficult part about getting a history degree?

First, it is good to know that you plan on teaching history at the high school level, as degrees in history are on a downward trend at the moment, if one is considering teaching at a higher level.

But at the middle school and high school level it still works.

But I am not sure what you mean re the most difficult part of getting a history degree? I minored in history and continue to extensively read history. I have always read history and therefore I have developed my historical preferences.

But I have no idea as to your interest in history, how many courses you have had in the subject, nor how much reading you have done.

In my own case, I had no problem in any of my history courses as, first, I liked and enjoyed history, and, second, I had already read extensively. So again, it was quite easy,

But in your case, it appears you have a keen interest in history and that as a positive step forward, and if the corses are a challenge, so much the better for your development.
