Hey Hollie,

Well, it’s tough to say there’s a guaranteed "secret" to winning a scholarship, but there are definitely ways you can increase your chances tho. First off, starting early is probably one of the most important things I can think to say. I know it sounds basic, but keeping track of deadlines and requirements is so crucial. Scholarships tend to have all sorts of deadlines that creep up, so it helps to stay on top of them. Now, When it comes to writing the application, I’d recommend you really tailor your essays to the specific scholarship. It’s tempting to use the same generic essay for every application, but trust me, the committee can usually tell when you do that. If you’re applying to a scholarship for a new career, like yours, make sure to weave in why this particular scholarship matters to you, and how it’ll help you reach your goals. It’s ofc about showing them your story and your passion, not just ticking boxes.

I know it might sound a little cliche, but being genuine in your essay can go a long way. So do not overthink it too much, just share why you care about the field you're going into, and how the scholarship will help you take the next step. Personalizing it and showing what you’re really about can sometimes be the difference.

Also, if you can, get strong recommendations. Ideally from people who know you beyond just the surface level. They should be able to speak to your character and what you’ve done to work towards your career goals.

I can’t promise that any of this will guarantee you get the scholarship, but it’s definitely a better approach than just sending in a random application and hoping for the best. It’s all about showing them you’re dedicated to your new career and that you're not just looking for a handout you’re ready to put in the work.
I know it’s a bit of a grind, but if you keep plugging away and apply to multiple scholarships, your chances definitely go up. It’s a long process, but I think you’ll be able to put your best foot forward. Good luck! I hope something works out for you buddy, and feel free to ask if anything pops up.
