How do I motivate myself to study?

I tend to have problems with motivation and studying, specifically, how do I get myself into a mood to start studying? College work will require me to study my material, but I struggle with studying the most, it's like a chore to me. I'm hoping to become a dental-hygienist in the future, so any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Great question! As someone who deals with ADD, I really understand this topic.

First, set aside specific times for studying and stick to them. Choose days and times when you’re usually less busy. Mark these times in your calendar and try not to change them unless you really have to.

Second, when you're studying, work in short bursts of 20 to 25 minutes. After that, my focus and memory tend to drop. Take a break to do something fun like playing the guitar or taking a quick walk. Then, come back and start another short session.

Lastly, treat yourself when you finish a good study session! Enjoy a favorite snack or another small reward to keep you motivated.
