Absolutely, a biology major is a solid foundation for entrance to optometry school. You will likely take most of the required classes for optometry school admissions as part of your major. You will develop critical thinking skills as a scientist and be able to apply these for problem solving for your patient cases. You will also have a good foundation in how research is conducted, which could also be beneficial in optometry school and your future career as an optometrist.
Keep in mind, not every optometry school student was a biology major. Major in what you are most interested in. You can still take the required classes for optometry school outside of your major.

Optometry is deeply rooted in science. Surely, with a strong science background, like yours, it is good for optometrist school admission.
Some school requirements are chemistry, anatomy, biology with lab, physics, microbiology, and biochemistry.
Biology that offers research or lab work is helpful for critical thinking and handling complex materials.
You can add electives such as psychology, statistics, and business. if you plan to have your own business in the future.
Volunteering and shadowing for gaining experience.
All the best,
