What are some careers that utilize both math and computer science?

I am a high school senior who is planning on double-majoring in math and computer science in college. I've heard about careers in math and computer science respectively, such as being a mathematician or a programmer, but I was wondering if there are any careers that utilize both of my passions.

Data science could be one option! There are lots of career paths that rely on the logical, problem-solving, and analytical skills that you'll gain from studying math and computer science. As one example, I studied math and psychology with a concentration in statistics. I worked as a mathematical statistician, as an analyst building financial risk models, and now I use my grounding in problem-solving as a technical expert in sales. I would suggest finding projects that allow you to explore ways you can apply your skills to different industries - what types of problems are you passionate about solving?

Most of the sciences utilize both of these. Modelling the expansion of the universe, minimization of sonic boom in highspeed passenger aircraft, or the disease vector of an epidemic all require math knowledge and computer skills. While you are in college make sure to take advantage of any intern programs available. This will enable you to test a few different paths to see where you want to go. They can even be a path to employment with the company you're interning with!
