Hi Angelo! College will be different because the workload is heavier and you’ll have more responsibility to manage your own time. In high school, teachers remind you of deadlines, but in college, professors expect you to stay on top of everything yourself. You’ll also have bigger projects, more reading, and harder exams—especially in computer science. To prepare, practice good time management now, stay organized, and build strong study habits early. Learning how to break big tasks into small steps will help a lot!

Hi Angelo! College is about all of the things you've read so far: diligence, responsibility, time management and so on. But if you are also going to live on campus or in an apartment, you should also consider what it will take to take care of yourself. You must make sure your nutrition and sleep are managed. You must ensure you have clean laundry, a clean room/apartment, and transportation. It can be a challenge to have more responsibility added to your plate. Take your time and give yourself grace. We all had to learn how to manage everything in a way that works for us. Just keep moving forward and be willing to try new ways to accomplish everything. It gets better and YOU get better!

Hi Angelo,
College will be different from high-school. Since you are entering college, you are expected to be more responsible compared to high-school. Also there will be various other activities in college which you will have to do like different projects apart from what is included in your course. More importantly, you will have to manage multiple things and do multi-tasking. What helped me is trying to stay organized by creating a schedule of different activities which were needed.
Good luck!

Hello,
One important thing to remember about college is that it’s largely self-paced. Your success will reflect the effort and discipline you put into your studies. You have the power to manage your time, tackle assignments, and shape your academic path.
I highly recommend creating a detailed schedule to help you stay organized. Over time, you’ll begin to recognize which classes require more study time and which ones come more naturally to you. With consistent planning and a proactive mindset, the workload becomes much more manageable.
Stay focused, stay organized, and don’t hesitate to adjust your schedule as you learn what works best for you.

Hi Angelo! Like the answers above you will be in control of your own schedule. You are in control of your studies and it is up to you to keep up with them. One thing that you can do to prepare for the increased workload is network. Myself and all of my computer science buddies included would have not made it through without each other regardless of how smart we were. Like minds helped me stay motivated and excited in college, which made a difference especially in the harder classes. Having people to study with and vent to when things get hard can make the difference between how much work you are putting in to your studies. I would encourage you to meet other incoming CS majors and see what you can learn from them!

Ankita gave a fantastic answer, and I won't repeat it. What helped me succeed in college was creating a routine. Routines help you know what to do and when to do it. I had some flexibility in my routine. I worked my way through college, holding a full-time job and working 40 hours a week at a restaurant. I stayed disciplined and stuck to my schedule to fit everything in. I didn't make excuses to skip my studies before and after work. But it wasn't all hard work—I made sure to include fun too. I attended parties, but only on weekends, never during the week. This balance of work and fun has helped me become a great project manager today.

From what I've seen, the big change from high school to college isn't the subjects themselves, but learning how to stay really organized and take charge of your own learning. You also need to adjust to different ways of learning. With practice and dedication, you can make a successful leap to college, and this will really help you in your future career. Keep going—you're on the right path!
