Hi Savannah,
If you are in the medical field, you have the satisfying feeling of helping people, of making a difference. But medical careers are not the only ones where you make a difference. Social workers help people in tough situations. Teachers help people educating their kids and bringing them on a good path. Musicians help people by bringing joy into their lives. Engineers help people by making their lives easier. A sales person can brighten your day by giving you a friendly smile. It takes all kinds of people.
You can also find fulfillment outside of a job. Maybe you don't want to spend too much time at a job because are into saving animals or you like to volunteer in other ways. Maybe you are into politics and want to make society better. People find fulfillment in all kinds of jobs as well as outside of jobs. You need to find your niche where you are happy!
I hope this helps! All the best to you!

Hi there Savannah!
Short answer: Yes — working in healthcare can be incredibly rewarding!
Long answer: Yes… but it comes with challenges too.
I’ve been working in healthcare for the past 10 years, and I truly love it. There’s nothing quite like helping someone feel like themselves again or regain the freedom to live life the way they want to. Whether you’re working with kids, adults, or older adults, people benefit from having an empathetic and competent provider walk alongside them in their journey toward long-term wellbeing.
If you're still unsure of your path (which is totally okay!) or haven’t had much exposure to the field yet, I highly recommend shadowing. There’s no shortage of professionals willing to let curious students tag along for a day — especially if you're thinking about a healthcare career. We need passionate, caring people to join this field, and encouraging more young folks to "join the ranks" is something I’ll always support.
That said, healthcare isn’t always as rewarding or feel-good as we might hope. Things don’t always go as planned for your patients, and navigating the system itself can be frustrating. But when your passion is rooted in helping people, no matter the scale, you can find meaning and comfort in the small wins and the positive moments that show up in everyday care.
Wishing you the best as you explore your next steps!
