I would suggest including volunteer experiences you have had and the resulting skills you gained such as team skills, communication, flexibility and perhaps understanding others viewpoints or cultures. If you haven't yet had these opportunities, look for them in your local community. There are things you can do which require a very minimum number of hours such as serving meals to the homeless or visiting someone at a living assisted facility. You can include things you've done for your family, friends or neighbors. These things can speak volumes about your abilities in addition to being a good student.

If you know already where you would like to do the internship, try to taylor your resume to the job role. For example, if they are looking for interns for a Computer Science project, then make sure to mention on your accomplishments, your experience related to it, your learnings. Mark in *bold* key words that will attract the attention of the reader and that have to do with the profile they are looking for.

Be concise and reader-friendly. Make sure all your contact info is correctly shown and showcase your biggest strenghts.

Hi Jonathan — I want to echo much of what’s already been shared, with a couple of additional points:

- Make sure you’re using the correct tense throughout your résumé. Past experiences—whether work, academic, or project-based—should be written in the past tense just as an example.

- Several people have touched on formatting, and I completely agree. I’ll add that I’ve always appreciated receiving résumés in PDF format. PDFs help preserve your layout and design, ensuring that what you worked hard to create is exactly what the reviewer sees. If you send your résumé in the program you created it in, the recruiter may open it in a different program, which can distort the formatting.
