I think sports coaching is one of the best areas to become involved in sports.
To become a coach, you should identify the coaching area that you would like to pursue (a specific sport)
In order to gain hands on experience I recommend checking out your local YMCA and Boys Clubs, in order to gain hands-on experience through volunteering or assistant roles.
You should also consider pursuing relevant education, including a bachelor's degrees and specialized coaching certifications.
Also look into networking with established coaches, obtaining certifications from professional bodies (like USA Track and Field or a certified coaching organization), and building a professional brand, which are crucial steps to achieving a successful coaching career

Hello, Kael !
There are no professional sports teams in Atlantic, Iowa but they do have a soccer program for youth. The nearest professional sports hub to you would be in Des Moines and Sioux City, both approximately 90 miles away. There's a professional baseball team in Davenport, Iowa and 100 miles away from you is a professional hockey team.
The "best' job for you in sports would be one that you've been inspired by and choose for yourself. No one can tell you which is best for you. You can explore becoming an Athlete, a Coach, Sales and Marketing, Community Relations and Public Affairs Management, Sportswriter, Sports Anchor, Sports Editor, Photographer, Sports Talk Show Host, Sports Medicine and Health, Event and Facility Operations, Umpire, Referee, and Sports Announcer, Sports Media Producers who create content for television and online platforms, and Sports Agent. So, you see, there are many to choose from so exploring these will explain what the work consists of so you can decide which is best for you personally.
I would say that for these careers, you would do well if you went to college for a Bachelors Degree in a related subject. You really have to research each one to know what to pursue. By going to college as a major for Sports Management, Sports Marketing, Sports Communications, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Athletic Training or Physical Education for coaching or teaching positions, it will prepare you for the career. So you see there are way too many specific careers in Sports and if you give it some time, you can discover the exact one to pursue and get the college degree that will qualify you for the career. Your question covers a broad area, so it's best to start doing some research online or at the Library to see which one you'd like best.
If you want to start out with a part time or full time job where you live, inquire about job openings at the City of Atlantic Parks and Recreation Department. There are 10 parks, the Sunnyside Swimming Pool, the Atlantic Sports Complex, 5 miles of hard-surfaced trails, and the Buck Creek Dog Park as you probably already know. You could probably get a job working in one of the parks but only the department would know which positions are available, so you need to visit their website or in person. They also do annual recreation activities and special events that you can be involved in. You can call your local Parks and Recreation Department at (712) 243-3542 and they will have detailed and exact information about applying for employment.
You can also get more involved with sports at your current school because sometimes information and opportunities come about through school. Make strong contacts there with coaches and teachers of sports.
I hope this helps for a start and I wish you all the best moving forward, discovering the very best niche for you !

Thank you for your question. I am glad to know that you have interest in sports.
Below are my suggestions :
1. There are many sports related careers, e.g. Sports Management, Athletes, Sports Journalist, Coach, Physical Therapist, Event Manager, etc. You can find out more related careers online.
2. Find out more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counsellor, your parents, etc.
4. Shortlist 1 - 2 careers you would like to pursue
5. Explore the entry criteria of relevant subjects in college
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
May Almighty God bless you!

Hi Kael,
It's fantastic that you love sports and would like to have a job working in an area that you enjoy!
There are several careers that you could enter within the world of sports. The direction you take really depends upon your interest. For example, do you enjoy talking about sports? Giving statistics? Reviewing plays? If you do, there are sports broadcasters, commentators - people who call games, on the radio, t.v. or who write sports blogs online.
There is also the business end of sports. In this area, you could work as a scout or a recruiter on a college or professional level. You can also work for a team in their accounting, marketing, or community outreach offices. You can work for the stadium where one of your favorite team plays, where you are not so much working directly for the team, but assist with advertising games, special events, reaching out to the community, organizing fundraisers and benefits, and so on.
If you have an interest in medicine and fitness, you can become an athletic trainer or a physical therapist. Athletic Trainers are found in high schools, colleges, and on professional teams. Physical therapists work with a variety of patients, but you could specialize with athletes.
You can also work as a coach, on a high school team, in college, or eventually professionally.
There are several different directions that you can take. The next question to ask is, of the above, what else do you like or are interested in? For example, if you enjoy talking about sports, studying stats, writing about games, etc., then maybe media and broadcasting is a good direction to go. Or, if you have an interest in business, then working for a team in a business role is an option. If you have an interest in science, in understanding how the body works, then working as a trainer or physical therapist could be the right path.
If you are able to narrow it down a bit to fit where your strengths and interests lie, that will help you with the next step.
Good luck!
