Siva’s Answer

Hello Jeeyun,
First, let me say this clearly: Not knowing what you want to do yet is completely normal.
Many people don’t wake up one day with clarity. It took me decades, and a mix of things I loved, things I disliked, and things I never expected — to understand who I am and what kind of work actually fulfills me. Looking back, "all of it" shaped me.

Career clarity is rarely found by looking forward. It’s usually found by "looking inward" and that’s not easy.

Me being tech person, and since you are open to exploration, here is a simple and engaging exercise you can do using AI. Think of it as a conversation, not a test.

Try this AI prompt(chatgpt, gemini,...) :
“Act as a career coach and life mentor. Help me discover my strengths, values, and natural competencies.
Ask me one thoughtful question at a time about:
• what I enjoy doing
• what drains or energizes me
• moments I felt proud or ‘in flow’
• how I like to work (alone, with people, structured, flexible)
• what matters to me beyond money

After each answer, reflect back what you notice and gradually suggest career paths that align with who I am.
Keep this conversational, honest, and encouraging.”

---
Answer slowly and honestly. There are no right answers.
The goal isn’t to find the perfect career, it’s to discover the patterns: what makes you feel alive, what fits your personality, and what aligns with your values. Careers evolve. You don’t need the full picture today. You just the next clearer step.

You are not behind. You are learning yourself and that’s the most valuable work you can do.
Wish you the best!
- Siva.

Yes, I can help you understand your competencies and explore possible career paths. When someone “assesses your competencies,” it means they look at your strengths, interests, and natural abilities. This can include things like what subjects you enjoy, how you like to work, and what kinds of tasks feel exciting or easy for you. By learning these things about yourself, it becomes much easier to see which careers might be a good fit.

First, I'd ask yourself what subjects you enjoy, what hobbies you have, what kind of environment you like working in, and what tasks make you feel proud or confident. Based on that, you can research career paths that match your personality and strengths. There's a great Interest Profiler called ONET: https://onetinterestprofiler.org/p/activities

I highly recommend you look into the Interest Profile. Choosing a major and career is a big decision. One should not take it lightly.

To assess your competencies, you need to think about your past experiences in school, work, or even hobbies. Ask yourself questions like, When did I feel most confident or successful? What kind of tasks do I enjoy doing the most? These moments can show you your strengths. You can also ask for feedback from people who know you well, like teachers, co-workers, or friends. They might see talents you haven't noticed in yourself, such as your ability to solve problems, stay calm under pressure, or motivate others.

There are also online tests and tools that can help you learn more about your personality and work style. These tests are not perfect, but they can give you useful ideas to explore. Once you understand your main skills and strengths, you can start looking for careers that match them. If you are good with numbers and enjoy solving problems, you might enjoy working in data analysis, finance, or engineering. If you like helping people and have good communication skills, jobs in teaching, healthcare, or social work could be great options. If you are creative and enjoy coming up with new ideas, you might fit well in design or marketing.

Building a career takes time, and your skills will grow as you gain more experience.

Thank you for your question. Firstly, you need to find out what careers you have interest. You can do it good if you have interest on the career.
Below are my suggestions :
1. Think about what your hobbies, favorite subjects, etc. and identify the related careers
E.g. If you have interest in maths, would you like to be an accountant, engineer, banker, financial analyst, maths teacher, etc.
If you like music, would you like to be a musician, singer, musical artist, music composer, music producer, etc.
2. Find out more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counsellor, your parents, etc.
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue.
5. Explore the entry criteria of relevant subjects in colleges
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
May Almighty God bless you!
