How do I manage my time as efficiently as possible (as a procrastinator) in order to become more accustomed to a harsh college schedule, and furthermore, a future career in medicine? #Fall25
I am a high school senior, and have been conflicted on going into either vet med or neurology.

Rebecca: good question! I believe your recognition of your tendency to procrastinate is the first step! I have, and still to some extent, have the same problem. Making a schedule is likely to help, as long as you adhere to it. Prioritize the schedule, much as outlined in the previous answer, including time for breaks, meals, exercise, adequate rest is indeed critical. And if you're a slow starter in the mornings, set your alarm to get up earlier. It's a good idea to set reminder alarms on your phone, so you don't get too far off track. Again, give it some leeway. If you need to be somewhere or do something at 10 am, set the alarm for an earlier time that will allow you to be there on time, or be started on whatever it is you should be doing. It may be hard at first, but once you get into a rhythm, it will flow more naturally. Good luck!

Thank you for your question. Many students have similar question. It is a question on your time management. Firstly, you need identify a time management tool, e.g. MS Outlook, Google Calendar, Phone Calendar, etc.
Below are my suggestions :
1. Put down the time you need to attend classes
2. Assign some time every day on your assignment, projects, etc. Review the material covered in the class every day.
3. Make sure you have enough time to sleep and do some exercise
4. You can then allocate some time for your leisure and friends & family gathering, etc.
5. Assign more time for revision before assessment
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
May Almighty God bless you!

Managing your time can be tricky, but it's a valuable skill to develop. Here are some encouraging tips to make the most of your day:
1. Use Two Simple Lists
- Keep a calendar for all your upcoming tasks.
- Create a daily task list for what you want to finish each day.
2. Break Down Tasks
- Turn big tasks into small, clear steps to avoid procrastination.
- For example, instead of "Study biology," try "Review photosynthesis notes for 15 minutes and do 10 practice questions."
3. Plan for Tomorrow
- At the end of each day, move any unfinished tasks to the next day and write down what you need to do.
4. Schedule Your Day
- Instead of saying "I'll do it later," set specific times for tasks and include extra time for unexpected delays.
5. Stay Focused
- Keep distractions like your phone out of sight.
- Work in focused bursts with short breaks for snacks and movement to keep your energy up.
6. Prioritize Sleep and Energy
- Being well-rested makes you more productive. Try to go to bed at the same time each night and tackle important tasks when you're most alert.
These steps can help you manage your time better and make your day more productive!
