Best way to land internships in college?
What should I seek to do to make my portfolio stand out? What about attending college job fairs? How is it? Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

Getting internships in college requires some effort, but starting early is key. Many summer 2025 spots are filled by late 2024, so apply now for spring or next year. Connect with alumni or professionals on LinkedIn; set up short calls to learn about their journeys and discuss common interests. Use sites like Handshake or Indeed to find listings, and customize your resume to highlight relevant classes, projects, or part-time jobs.
Make your portfolio unique by including real projects such as freelance work, class assignments that solve real problems, or personal initiatives. Organize it with clear sections, photos, or captions, and focus on what you achieved. Add awards, club activities, or a work journal to show your growth. College job fairs are great opportunities to meet recruiters face-to-face or online. Prepare by researching companies, prioritizing your favorites, dressing well, bringing resumes, and having questions ready about things like company culture. Take notes, send thank-you emails, and visit smaller booths they often have hidden opportunities. Be confident, practice your introduction, and listen to other conversations for ideas. 1. Create a Resume including all academic, co-curricular activities and real experiences/ publications/awards if any,
2. Create a digital profile Ex: linkedin, github etc (link to be included in Resume too!)
3. Research and create a list of interested organizations and roles to work for, in a tracker
4. Create an elevator pitch to share about yourself in under few mins 1-3mins conversation
5. Attend in person/digital career fairs to discuss your interests, experience, contribution and learnings
6. Apply for listed open roles on websites of interested organizations directly and job listing portals
7. Reach out to interested roles via emails, linkedin or human resource teams seeking assistance
8. Prepare for interview with friends/family for few sample questions and always listen to your answers via phone recording to improve
9. Thank you email within 1 day after interview thanking the opportunity and your key takeaways/ learnings
