How should I go about finding a job in advertising or event planning after college? #Fall25 #fall25
I'm not sure how to find a job. Everyone says networking but it is very hard as a busy college student.

Job fairs are a great place to start! You may not find your dream job there, but there are typically lots of employers that are looking for new graduates.
Networking is a wonderful option as well, but it doesn't have to be a huge commitment. There are often virtual or in-person networking groups for marketing/advertising professionals that meet up once a month for coffee. These are a great way to meet new people and learn more about working in these industries. Even if it doesn't seem like a "perfect" fit, you never know what you might find/who you might meet there.

Networking is tough at first but it'll be easier once you gain momentum. I've been in the advertising field for 15 years and these are a few things you can do to jump start your job search:
1. Create a LinkedIn profile if you don't already have one. Make it professional and clear. Send invites to your professors or other professionals you know.
2. Google "Top Ten Advertising Agencies in OKC" and follow them on LinkedIn
3. If at all possible get an internship through your school. The experience is invaluable and will beef up your resume.
4. Check out your local American Marketing Association group - amaokc.org - for events, opportunities for students and job boards
5. Look for volunteer opportunities that highlight your event planning and organizational skills
Good Luck!
