When should I join a club sport?

I'm soon going to be a freshman in Bloomsburg University in the fall after I graduate high shool. I got an email from my college about the club sports that I could join, and I want to join the equestrian club. But, I'm a bit worried when I should join the club.

Hi Kailynn,

Whenever you want. But in all honesty the best way is to talk to an existing member of the club. Participating in clubs is not a necessary part of college, it is meant to be fun, fullfilling, and allows you to make new freinds and network.

Hello again, Kailynn !

Well, Kailynn, students at Bloomsburg University have 18 hours to register for an open spot in the equestrian club sport after receiving a notification email. Read your e-mail from them again to see if it mentions this - it should. I would have chosen that same club myself !

Don't worry too much if you've missed the deadline already or inquire and there's no slots left. This will give you a chance to see how your first semester goes before doing Equestrian. If, after your first semester you feel that you can fit it in, then inquire about it again to see when the next registration will be.

When you do register, they most likely will have helmets, tack and horse grooming utensils/tools for you to use. You can wear boots you already have, ones only with a one inch heel and no zippers or buckles on the boots because they hurt the horses. If you can find an equestrian shop in person (they'll be less expensive) buy a pair of riding pants - that's if you'll be doing English Riding which most likely is the case. You can also order riding pants online but most times they are pretty expensive. You can e-mail the person who sent you the e-mail and ask questions about all of this.

Keep in mind that Bloomsburg's Equestrian club sport is a student run organization that welcomes members of all experience levels, including those with no prior riding experience. There is no fee to join, but some of the team's activities, such as riding lessons and competitions may have a fee. This can all be verified by calling the school for the exact information.

If you've missed the deadline, use your first semester to explore the campus and meet new people. No doubt there will be lots for you to do on campus at that time so keep the sport club on the back burner.

I hope this helps and I wish you an awesome day !
