Hi there! I have a Masters in International Business and currently work in communications for a large tech company. Prior to this, I worked in strategic communications and in marketing strategy, planning, and operations. My degree has opened a lot of doors to take my career in many different directions. I'm currently exploring a career in strategy, enabled by a degree in international business that gave me analytical skills around market strategy, international finance, and strategic management. I'd also argue that with globalization, all business is international business, so a degree in international business can set you up on the path to success in this growing global market!

Hi-

Majoring in international business is a great idea! In today's society, business is conducted worldwide and not just in the comfort of one's hometown. From consumers purchasing good across the globe, to making goods in one country that will be sold in another country, the global economy has become more and more prevalent in how we conduct business. With an international business major, you will be able to understand global politics, cultural sensitivity, trade policies, etc. If you are going to major in international business, I highly recommend a concentration or minor to accompany it. Consider a foreign language, marketing, or communications.

Hi International Business is a great major. It really keeps your options open for what graduate courses you are interested in. My school also offered a study abroad program where I worked, traveled and studied. I recommend you explore what your school has to offer.

Jesus’s Answer

Hi -

An international business degree gave me a high level understanding of the over the overall business practice. It also opened my eyes to different business practices abroad. If I had to give some advice on this degree it would be to combine an international business degree with a focus in one other area of business such as accounting or finance. This helps you be specialized in one aspect of business when you hit the job market.

Kayla’s Answer

I think international business is a great major if you are looking to travel abroad and are interested in other cultures. However, if you plan to work in the United States for the majority of your life I would reccommend a traditional business major and take some electives in international business. The classes are usually very similar, but international business classes will cover less topics than traditional topics.
