What ways can I, as a fashion designer, make a well known name for myself and the brand I have?
Im about to attend school for fashion design, and I want to know how people create a following and have proper branding.

Hi Kaden. You need to think about what makes your designs special and find your own style. Maybe it's the colors you use, the shapes of your clothes, or the story behind your work. Your style should be clear in everything you make so people can recognize your brand.
You can show your work online, like, take good pictures of your designs and share them on social media sites. Post regularly and show behind-the-scenes moments of your design process. People like to see how your clothes are made and learn more about you. Collaborating with photographers, models, or other designers can help more people notice your work.
You should also go to fashion shows, workshops and events, and meet people in the fashion world. Making these connections can help you get advice, opportunities, and exposure.
To build a strong brand, you need to have a clear logo, colors, and style that show who you are. Think about the type of people who would wear your designs and what they want. You can create small collections or limited releases to get people talking about your brand. Good luck.

Thank you for your question. I am glad to know that you would like to be a fashion design and have your own brand.
Below are my suggestions :
1. Explore the entry criteria of famous fashion design schools or design department of colleges. Work hard on your academic to meet the entry criteria
2. Watch the fashion shows of famous fashion designers and do window shopping to see the design of different designers
3. Explore any intern opportunities working in famous fashion house
4. Try to do your own design and seek the comments from the designers or professors in the colleges
5. Start your brand and sell the clothes online first
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
May Almighty God bless you!

Hello, Kaden !
Creating a following for your fashion line and knowing how to brand your product will be taught to you in Fashion School. That is what Fashion School is for.
This career needs lots of patience because it is a process and no one can tell you how your career will be. Being a fashion design student will teach you all about the industry as well as provide opportunities for you to get experience as a designer and do quite a bit of necessary Networking which is pretty much required for this career. You'll need to take it a step at a time without jumping ahead and your path towards fashion will go smoothly.
I can advise that you should be creating now until you enter fashion school. Have some fashions sewn and ready to wear already. It takes a lot of time and effort to create (design, sew and finish) clothes so you will need to dedicate all the time it takes to build up a collection now.
Another thing you have to do now and continually is network. Attend the Bentonville Fashion Week Spring event and also the Bentonville Fashion Week Fall Runway Event which already is over but usually held in November. Find out when next year's Fall Runway event will be. You need to have people see your clothing, get to know you and this means attending every fashion event you can find, small and large shows alike. There's no guarantee how "well known" your name will be, people go into this career because they love it and they do as much as possible to promote their brand/line. It is an opinion business so you should hope for the best and not rely on fame and fortune, rather do it because you love it. Things start getting confusing and disappointing if you're always thinking about the future of this career. Take it step by step and enjoy every minute of it. No one knows how their career will be before they even start training for it.
Based on what you learn in fashion school, be creative and productive. This is a lot of work. Make sure you take time for exercise, good nutrition and enough sleep and take breaks from your work. You will need stamina for this career. It's not all about the glamour and glitz, it's hard work, demanding, working with deadlines, and collaborating with other professionals and only a select few become household names which is perfectly normal and okay. Many designers whose names we do not know have very satisfying careers. Like I said before, no one can tell how your career will progress.
Find out more about June Bentonville First Friday - Fashion which is an event that provides a platform for local creatives and is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to support the arts and fashion community. Once you are enrolled in fashion school, they will/should be telling you of all fashion events and where to go to network and make contacts. Ask about how you can do your own fashion show, too.
So it will not be very beneficial to think about being well known or marketing your clothing line when you haven't created it yet. Give yourself time to learn this first hand as fashion school is there to inspire you. You will have access to great information as a student.
Best wishes in all you do !

Hi Kaden,
In my experience, to make your name and style known, you should develop a strong social media presence.
If your style is unique, you may start by posting your own outfits, daily, and create a following. Post the items you make for other people as well. Eventually, if many people are loving your style, you may get noticed by a celebrity stylist, or a store representative. Of course, this is just one of the avenues you could get your ideas out there but it is open to anyone. I happen to know a few people who followed this path and got featured in Vogue, with more publicity coming their way and their careers taking off pretty quickly.
Good Luck!
