Is a major in wildlife ecology, or a conservation major in general, determinant to my ability to secure jobs ?

No. Everything is dependent on your ability to be open to taking on roles in the form of internship, volunteerism, part-time and also making sure you network and attempt to publish papers and present them in private and open sessions.
