Thank you for your question. I am glad to know that you have interest to be developer.
Below are my suggestions:
1. There are many different types of developers, eg web developer, apps developer, ERP developer, system developer, etc. you can find out more online. Each have their own language to use & skill. There is no oro & cons. It depends on what you have interest
2. Find out more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Attend information sessions hosts by computer science department of colleges. Find out the entry criteria and work hard to meet the criteria.
4. In the college, you can find out more from alumni and discuss with professors to determine what you have interest
5. Explore any intern opportunities working in the domain you have interest
Hope this helps! Good luck!
May Almighty God bless you!

Hello Mabel!

There are several majors that have to do with coding or are adjacent to Computer Science. In addition to the obvious majors like CS of Computer/Software Engineering, coding has become such a basic professional skill that you’ll find coding-related coursework in various other majors such as: Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Management Information Sciences and many more.

I’d suggest you pull up the curriculum online for majors that match your interests and see how many coding classes are required for graduation. CS will always be in demand, but into the future companies will be looking for creative problem solvers with domain expertise… who can also create or at least understand code. Sometimes it helps to be a little different!
