What does an average day look like for a travel nurse, and what are you typically tasked with?
I'm in 10th grade in a nursing program, and I'm interested in being a travel nurse. I would like to know more information and see if it is a good option for me!

Whether on staff or as a travel nurse, after you have demonstrated competence, will be the same.
Hey Martin! To confirm, are you saying that there is no difference between the tasks/responsibilities of traveling nurses and regular nurses?

Good question. The short answer--the average day for a nurse, traveling or not, can be so varied! If you are working in a doctor's office it will look much different than a hospital ward, which will be somewhat different from the ER, and different still from what it would look like working in a care center. I worked in a care center alongside many traveling nurses. Their days included doing med rounds (only nurses were allowed to hand out meds to residents, so the CNAs couldn't), doing wound care, and general nursing duties for injuries and such. In the ER, they are responding to patients and helping with intakes, and whatever emergent care. In the normal wards, they are doing normal duties like checking on patients, administering meds, taking vitals, monitoring IVs, and so on. All of them will have some charting and consulting with other care staff.
You might consider shadowing nurses in a few different areas to see which one might excite you the most. I know that hospitals and care centers use a lot of traveling nurses, where as a doctor's office might use them less. Shadowing each will give you a better idea of which area you might like best. Nursing is a great path, and we need more caring people, so I hope you find the right fit for you!
