How are programmers using augmented reality? - Audrey

My name is Audrey, and I am way into computer science. I'm only in middle school, but I'm learning about computers and programming at the Verizon Innovative Learning STEM Camp for girls. Could a programmer or computer scientist utilize augmented reality?

Some can. Most programming jobs won't touch AR, but a few do. Google ARCore has some examples: https://www.blog.google/products/arcore/experience-augmented-reality-together-new-updates-arcore/

Hi Audrey - with the era of the "new normal" upon us in mid-2020, augmented reality will become a very , very relevant. Use cases include being able to see how a product will "fit" you or how it will look on you without having to actually touch/hold the product. Clothes, shoes, sunglasses, hats, gloves, etc. are all potential targets of these. Also, being able to "test drive" cars, trucks and other vehicles. Another is an augmented reality walk-through of a real estate property prior to buying or renting it. Hope this helps. Good luck! -Peter
