What does it mean to be consistent? and how can I achieve it?

I've recently returned from Egypt (studied abroad to learn Arabic) and I've been having trouble staying consistent with my actions. What advice would you give?

Thank you comment icon Hi Senih! To me, consistency means showing up even when you don’t feel motivated. What helped me is lowering the pressure. Instead of trying to do everything, I focus on small, repeatable actions each day. For example, even 30 minutes of focused work is better than waiting for the “perfect” time. For time wasters, I try to create friction. I’ll put my phone away, use website blockers, or set a timer where I can’t check anything until it’s done. It’s less about discipline and more about setting up your environment to help you. You don’t need to be perfect, just consistent enough to keep moving forward! Niki

Congrats. on your studying abroad. That experience is one you will probably never forget.

To be more consistent, try keeping notes, on your phone, laptop or whatever works for you, on things you need to get done each day. It also can help if you keep things in the same place so you always know where to look for them. Being consistent, can also demonstrate that you are dependable, so a good trait to develop.

With every good wish and many blessings,
Karen

Don't do what I do, then you will be consistent.

Your question is a little vague but I am going to assume you mean with time management. There are courses online with time management and personal organization. Read all of them and then find the one that is simplest and works best for you. The one I read about recently was the Pomodoro Technique. Read up on that, try it out just to see.

Use your calendar, alarms, and to do lists on your phone. This will give you a push when its time to tackle something you don't want to do. For me its a visual reminder of what time I have available to do something.

Avoid time wasters. I love scrolling social media, AI slop, youtube videos, wasteful websites etc. Its all so much fun! But what is the dollar amount of your time worth vs the amount of time you are wasting on consuming something with no purpose. Think about it that way, if you are spending an hour watching a useless youtube video, could you have made $20 that hour doing something else? Focus on what matters first and worry about what doesn't later.
Thank you comment icon Liam, thank you for the advice. I have, and try to continue using the Pomodoro technique. It works well but it’s more so the time wasters that get me. I have a lot of ideas and business things I’d love to do but end up delaying or not doing due to time wasters. Thank you again. Senih
