Time management is a key challenge. Balancing time devoted to CS projects with other life activities is difficult. Be sure to dedicate time to scheduling yourself so that you have a healthy balance and a mantra of mine: Expect the best, but plan for the worst.

The thing about computer science, is its going to be a lot of head down in front of (likely) VScode. The best way I found to both keep my own sanity and keep a good GPA was try to combine both. I ended up making a close friend my sophomore year of college, and from that moment forward we would make it part of our routine to go out to a public spot, either the library or a cafe and write code together. A second set of eyes on your code is always a good thing to have on standby.

Another good thing is just to keep a schedule, I'm a gamer myself and understand how sometimes late night gaming can bleed into that time. Which is why I started keeping certain days / afternoons to exclusively working on stuff for school or my future career. Thankfully not every day will be crunch time, but when it is, it's good to have that dedicated time for it.

That's a fantastic question! If you choose a career in computer science, you'll definitely find ways to balance your work and personal life during most of your career. At first, it takes time, practice, and interest to learn and get into a specific area. Once you've developed a valuable skill, you can start balancing your social life with your academic or career goals. Simply put, become good at what you do so you can enjoy more of what you love!
