What are some of the best aircraft maintenance facilities in the Dallas, Texas Area?

I am a senior about to graduate from high school. I am currently working on getting my pilots license to be a corporate and charter pilot; however, I want to become an aircraft mechanic. My family owns an aircraft maintenance business in Mesquite but I'm looking to do work on bigger things like jets and turboprops.

Hi Blevin,

I have never worked in Dallas, Texas, so I can't provide you with any personal experience of those operations, but if you go to JSFirm.com, you can search any city and see what companies are located there and any openings that they currently have posted. It looks like there are quite a few postings available in the DFW area. Most will likely require an A&P license, though some may do apprenticeship programs if you don't have the license yet.

I'm currently seeing some postings for SkyWest and PSA Airlines, which are both regional carriers and I think are excellent places to start any maintenance career. You'll get exposure to the whole aircraft, learn how part 121 carriers operate, and also get some flight benefits, which are absolutely amazing! I personally worked for SkyWest and I believe they are a fantastic operation that takes training new mechanics seriously.

If you don't have your A&P yet, I know West Star Aviation has an apprenticeship program where they will provide you with the necessary on-the-job training over the course of 18-24 months so that you can satisfy the FAA training requirements to be able to take the written exams and O&P exam to obtain your license. Although, I'm not certain if they run that program out of their Dallas location or not.

Best of luck!
