I am having a hard time to choose between being a physical therapist and a music? I wanted to know which one would be the best option for me?

I love listening to music and singing and dancing is my passion. But I also enjoy helping injured and ill people. #music-industry #music #therapy

Hey Shaunice! First of all, that is amazing that you have many things that you are passionate about! That is a gift, and both of the areas that you mention bring joy and healing to other people. As for a career - If you love Physical Therapy, then I encourage you to look into that as a career and do some research and ask folks who are in that area about what it takes to learn and become certified.

I am a professional musician as well as a software administrator, and I will say this about music .... It is always there for us! Even if it is not a career, follow your passion in that direction as well! Do you have other folks to play and sing with? Any local youth based theater groups? Those might be avenues to meet other musicians and collaborators.

Follow your joy!

best, Shelley

It sounds to me like the kind of passions you can combine. A lot of music therapy positions can be quite flexible in implementation - day to day work can be self discretionary. If you worked as a physical therapist you could bring a real edge if you can incorporate elements of music therapy in there as well. Who knows you might start a new trend (:

Hello Shaunice, your still very young there is plenty of time to make up your mind. I think what you will find is one of these careers will support you and the other one, while it may be more enjoyable the money might be on a different pay scale. I would suggest you work at a hospital that has physical therapy for the summer in a paid position. And find a position working a paid job in the musical industry and weigh out your options.
