Nishi’s Answer

If your internet is slow, there are few things to consider

  1. Your modem speed might need to be adjusted.
  2. Go to https://www.speedtest.net/ and click on GO to understand actually how slow your internet is.
  3. Monitor your internet usage, are you downloading movies or large images for a long period of time?
  4. Contact your local internet service provider once you find out the answer to 2.

Gulab’s Answer

It depends on how many devices are connected (computers, cell-phones etc). Are you connecting directly to the modem (LAN) or wi-fi. It may not be you or your usage, could be a problem with the provider.

Gulab recommends the following next steps:

Check https://www.speedtest.net/ for the speed.
Are you using big media files (movies, music, video etc)
Close any windows/tabs not needed

Nir’s Answer

Check out your internet plan and see how many mbps you are getting. Depending on how many users you have 200-500 mbps is pretty ideal. Of course your provider may not have such high rates in which case there isn't much you can do.

Robert’s Answer

Make sure you have enough bandwidth on the backend, enough is a relative term, could be 100mb or 500mb, depending on devices connected. Also the device you are using could affect the aka speed, it there is to much applications or software on your device could impede your device. Make sure you have a strong wifi signal it is very important and most over looked, having good wifi at your location will definitely affect your performance of your devices.

Douglas’s Answer

Internet speed is affected by the band you are on and the signal strength. If you are on the 2.4 gig network, you will only have speeds of up to 50+ mbs. When you go onto the 5.0 gig network , you can get much faster speeds. It would also depend on the wifi adapter on your device. Signal strength is also the next biggest factor. When your signal is low the speed is low. You may need an extender to help your signal. The last factor that affects speed is that the network , 2.4 or 5.0 , will only be as fast as the slowest device on the network.
