Clint’s Answer

In addition to the other answers, I believe the mental health field is only continuing to expand as the stigma around getting mental health support lessens. There's an increasing move towards virtual therapy via video or online platforms as well as apps such as Betterhealth and talkspace. While I think there are privacy and other issues to work out, there are lots of opportunities in addition to traditional private practice, research or hospital work. Additionally, you could consider social work, an marriage and family therapy degree, or other similar career paths. People will always need support and care for their mental health so I don't consider this as a field with limited job opportunities.

Dr. Ray’s Answer

Dear Cloe,

Since I don't know what kind of person you are it's hard to answer your question. Psychology and mental health are expanding fields due to population growth, so someone like you should have little trouble finding a job, assuming you have the right training and credentials. People in these fields are generally interested in science and (no big news here) are interested in people and what makes them tick. Educationally, you are looking at either a master's or Ph.D, degree; unfortunately there are very few jobs for people with a bachelor's degree.

Tell me more about yourself as a person and I will try to answer more specifically. In the meantime good luck in your career pursuits.
