Andrew’s Answer

1. Must be discipline and have a plan to get the result (Goal, roadmap...)
2. Just do it (don't only plan but carry out the action and enjoy the result)
3. Do not just do what is "enough", go extra mile, learn more stuff, do research....
4. revise your goal/map...

There are several ways to get help for increasing your marks in science. Ask the instructor, read additional material from the library or internet if it is credible on the subject you are studying. If you have lab, ask your lab partners for help. Join a study group. Ask for tutoring. Sometimes it might be available for free. There are companies that provide tutors for a fee. You can always get tested if you feel there is an unexplainable reason for your lower scores.

I have found that often these steps have helped me in the past

Stephanie recommends the following next steps:

Find out the areas that your scores are low, that is a good place to concentrate on increasing your overall score
Find out if you are misunderstanding the concepts, having trouble with memory, are there mathamatics involved? Do you have trouble with taking tests?
Get help with a teacher, tutor. They can give more input on ways to increase your scores.
If you have time, read additional credible works on the subject in question. Sometimes that helps to explain in a different way that you might understnd better
Get a good nights sleep before the test. Eat and drink before you take a test. Try to be relaxed

Steve’s Answer

Everyone has troubles with certain subjects. I have an MBA and always struggled in school with history and writing papers. I just had to study more than others in this area and often joined study groups whenever possible. You can also ask your school about tutoring and often instructors were more than happy to help me when I showed them I really cared and was trying hard. Be honest with your teacher when you really are lost and participate in class. If you need help, go get it before it is too late.
One other piece of advice that really helped my academics which I wish I had done more earlier in life - read, read and read even more. It helps you so much studying subjects that are difficult and increasing your vocabulary and retention rate really makes a difference.
