Doc’s Answer

The income and salary of those with a bachelor's Degree versus a Master's Degree can vary widely by discipline. However, an individual with a Master's Degree will generally earn more over a career than someone with a bachelor's degree.

BACHELOR'S DRGREE – 4 YEARS
A bachelor's degree program is an undergraduate program that usually takes four years to complete. Enrolling in a bachelor's degree program requires that students choose a major area of study, such as finance, history, communications, or biology. Graduates from a bachelor's degree program are qualified to work in entry/or management-level positions, depending on the field. A bachelor's degree is also usually required for admittance into a graduate program. The different types of degrees available in a bachelor's degree program include the following:
• Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)
• Bachelor of Science (B.S.)
• Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA)
• Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS)

MASTER'S DEGREE – 1-2 YEARS
Master's degree programs are graduate programs that let students specialize in an area of study. They typically take 1-2 years to complete. Along with an undergraduate degree, enrolling in a master's degree program usually requires a minimum GPA and an acceptance score on a graduate entrance exam, such as the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Many master's degree programs require a thesis or capstone project for graduation. Earning a master's degree may qualify graduates to work in advanced or executive-level positions. A master's degree is also required for entrance into some doctoral programs. Different degree programs available at the master's degree level include the following:
• Master of Arts (M.A.)
• Master of Science (M.S.)
• Master of Business Administration (MBA)
• Master of Fine Arts (MFA)

YES, YOUR MASTER'S DEGREE CAN BE IN A DIFFERENT SUBJECT THAN YOUR BACHELOR'S DRGREE
A masters in a new subject can be an excellent way to embark on a new career direction or to supplement your existing knowledge, helping you stand out in a competitive job market. Salaries for college graduates vary by subject, as well as the level of degree earned. However an individual with a master's degree can expect to earn more than an individual with a bachelor's degree in a similar position. For instance, according to the 2019-2020 College Salary Report from the website Payscale, an accountant with a bachelor's degree earned an average salary of $51,000. Meanwhile an accountant with a master's degree earned an average salary of $63,900.

John’s Answer

A bachelor degree usually takes four years. A Masters takes approximately another 2 years , has higher level training/education to strengthen your basic courses you've taken during your bachelor degree. Many jobs require just a bachelor, but many jobs require a better understanding and higher knowledge level for those jobs and results in higher annual salary.

John recommends the following next steps:

Go to a college website and see what courses are required for a bachelor and then compare to what courses are required for a Masters degree. You may need someone to explain it in more detail.

These four-year programs provide the foundation required for attaining the majority of jobs. A Bachelor's degree could be perfect for certain career fields, as well as a steppingstone to higher degrees. For a broader range of possible job prospects, get your bachelor’s degree.

If you want to strive even higher professionally, a master’s degree could be within your reach. A Bachelor's degree is a prerequisite for a Master's degree. Master's programs are highly specialized depending on the job that the student is interested in obtaining upon graduation. Oftentimes master's students are attending classes while also working full time. One main reason to get a master’s degree is better potential income.

A bachelors degree is what you get directly out of high school when you go to college. After college, you can choose to enroll again and earn a more advanced degree from college and that is a masters degree!

RAVI’s Answer

Bachelor's degree is 4 years of college after your high school graduation.
Master degree is usually 2 years after your bachelor's degree. In other words Bachelors degree is a pre-requisite for Master degree.
Most colleges require SAT/ACT for bachelors program admission. Most colleges require GRE for masters program admission.
You can do master's in different field than your bachelors, and many universities evaluate your bachelors curriculum before they admit you to the masters program.

Master's degree courses are more advanced and are usually more focused on the main subject/major you are pursuing than the bachelors.
You can then go on to do PhD with another 3-4 years of studies doing research in a specific topic.

Depending on your financial situation and also your inclination to spend time in college atmosphere, it may be good to complete masters right after Bachelor's degree. You may also want to chose to work after bachelor's degree at large corporations and better companies and pursue master's over the weekends or in the evenings. Many companies pay for college to pursue advanced degrees. It might take 3 to 4 years to get your master this way, but you do not incur any more financial hardships as your employer is paying for it.

It is tough to get back to college once you start working.

Master's degree holders do get paid more money and probably have better growth path based on your personality and ambition.

Doing Master's also gets you to think differently, about your work and future career, probably opening many more avenues you may not have thought of. Example: Many teaching positions in community colleges or other places require a master degree.

RAVI recommends the following next steps:

Your priorities, inclinations, tastes change as you go along. So focus on Bachelors degree first. You will have plenty of time to think about and get into masters program.
