[closed] How do you answer the interview question: "Do you prefer to work independently or as part of a team?"

Hello,

My name is Aimee, and I am a business senior who has an interest in administration and a major in management. I would like to ask for those of us who want to go on an interview soon, how to answer the question of work styles. Is there a way for those who love to work independently to work as part of a team? Some of us have different personalities and do not wish to believe what others say, but is there a way to work together and be happy and authentic? For example, I prefer working alone and do not wish to pretend to be friends with everyone. #business #management #administration

Hi,
Very good question, the short answer is both but, how you answer from there depends on the job and on you and your preferences. Personally I work better alone but I also enjoy being part of a larger team that all works towards a common goal, we just do not always or often work together on a daily basis. But, when I need to work as part of a larger group and either 1x1 with other people or as part of a team in person or remote, I am comfortable as well.
The type and nature of the job you are interviewing for can help you craft an answer that tells the interviewer about your and your preferences and also how you can fit in with the job.
hope that helps and made sense. good luck!

Hi

This is a good question and answer is not easy ...depending on the job you are looking for the answer should be different . In big companies , I will recommand to answer team work ; Why : You cannot know everything on each single department and positions. So You will have to work with others people to achieve the objectives . try to identify and on board key people (or talents ) to be successful . On top of that You will start to create your professional network and if it goes well ( no doubt it will) people will better kn ow You , your skills and they will engage You for other projects more and more challenging and exposed

For me teaming is key for success in big companies

I have a lower experience in small comapnies ; You will have to do a lot of different things , could help You to increase your skills quicker ...but if You are stuck with a problem , it is more difficult to get attention , support or help from others as they are fully involved in another project . My suggestion will to try to organize a weekly meeting with project owner to share experience and issues if needed

Cheers
