What do you do in Business Administration?

I am wondering about this specific topic because I want to major in Business but don't know in what area to major in. This is one of the two areas I am considering in majoring in but don't really know what you do with a major like this one. Basically, what I'm asking is what kind of job will this major give a person? #business #administration

Hi Jasmine,

When I saw your initial question, I immediately thought of Human Resources, supporting a group of people whose role is to support the administration of people in a business. I know a few people with business degrees who focus on the management of people, whether hiring them or leading them. There are other areas like Finance and Accounting if you want to focus on numbers. I would say if you can master people management and a focus on numbers you may want to consider teams like Sales and Customer Service.

So business is a broad field. You could be specializing in accounting, finance, marketing, management and management information systems which are some of the subjects as part of the major business schools. Do the first 2 years you take general classes as any business major would and then the junior and senior year you take core classes that you specialize in accounting or finance.

There are lot of good jobs in accounting and finance maybe a a little less. Accounting majors are one of the top ten paying majors for college graduates. With the business degree you also get well rounded that if you want to something on yoiur own you will have learnt a lot to start your own venture

A major is the area of study like Engineering, Arts, and of course Business Administration. As the person before stated and I agree with, it's a broad field because there many emphasis to study in business. Don't let this intimidate you. It's good to know what these emphasis are because you will see taking a few courses that each area are interconnected.

Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain Management, and Human Resource Management are among some of the highest paid careers because they may require more classes or certification that employers may only look for.

It is best to get exposure to the field that suits you so you can see if it still seeks your interest and gives you a huge leap ahead with experience as well.

Hope this helps. Good luck in your professional and academic career.
