[closed] What are some kiss of death decisions that have landed managers in hot water?

Hello,

I am a business senior who likes administration and who focuses on management. Some of us business students would like to know what is expected of the behavior of managers, and how they are supposed to make decisions. Similarly, there are ways to get positive attention and negative attention of customers. How can a manager drive someone towards them with their decisions, and how do they avoid driving people away?

Thank you,

Brandi’s Answer

There is a distinct line between a professional relationship and a friendship at work. If a leader allows themselves to get too close, they can often find themselves having trouble with managing the employee. It's still important to be approachable, kind and friendly, but it's imperative that boundaries are set around relationships outside of work.

Fiona’s Answer

Personally it is all about making them feel like they matter, their opinion, views and making them feel included and important within the team. Giving praise and letting them know how valued they are is also very important. Having fun as a team, getting to know them personally, what makes them who they are. Taking the time to get to know them.

Read my book "Help Me. I'm Lost" and "Management Mistakes" to get some ideas as to the hazards and mistakes managers make. My #1 after 40 years of managing - not upholding the trust of others.
