John’s Answer

In small companies and small cities you may start out between $60,000 and $70,000 per year although some will pay higher depending how bad they need an engineer. Larger companies $70, 000 to $80,000 until you get some experience. Then eventually you'll get around the $100,000 and more if you get into management positions.

Per the Government database: The median annual wage for mechanical engineers was $88,430 in May 2019. The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $57,130, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $138,020.

Also, pay will range higher or lower depending on which engineering field you're interested in.

Beatriz’s Answer

There are multiple career paths someone can take with an Engineering degree (sometimes even unrelated to Engineering). Depending on location, industry and type of job, salaries will vary widely from around $60-100k for entry level to $100-$140k for experienced engineers to $150k+ for highly specialized/staff level engineers and even higher for certain jobs/consultants.

As you move up in a company, your compensation will also go up. You should try to start in an industry that interests you and the money will follow accordingly. In my experience, your passion for this career and determination to continuously learn will take you anywhere you’d like to go.

When an engineering degree is combined with a Masters degree, your salary potential and employability increases. In college you learn analytical skills and how to solve problems, which can then be applied to many different types of jobs. Engineering in general is a rewarding career!

That varies, but entry level is around that 100k range. If you have the passion for it and diligence, you will be contributing to one of the most needed skill sets at this time.
