Dont be afraid to call and find out what you can do to move you application off the waitlist. it shows you want to get in and you are willing to do what it takes. Ask the administration office why you are on the waitlist and have not been accepted? what did others have that you didnt. that will help you understand what you need to do.

Good Luck, everything will work out.

Thank you comment icon I met with the assistant director of the university's admissions. Since it is a highly ranked state school, all she the advice she could offer me was to finish the rest of my year strong and hope that there are available spaces in my class. I've become a lot more involved with other things that I was unable to express in my application. What can I do with this information? I don't want to hassle the admission director too much...Thank you for the help! Amy
Thank you comment icon I would resubmit a cover letter, with the new experiences and final grades etc. this will make you stand out. Waitlists are hard but you need to stay strong. it will happen. I would also send a hand written card with the coverletter and final grades. this will help you stand out. Andria Frederickson

Donald’s Answer

I would contact the admissions office and ask what specific thing(s) I should do to get into that school. You can do this in many ways although a face to face meeting may get you a better result. Do some research and find what skills, experience and activities graduates had when they applied. Look at what courses you would need to graduate at your preferred school and start getting more of those completed to show that you are serious about the field you're interested in......Good Luck....Don Knapik
