Plant pathology?

I'm interested in plant pathology, what degree in college should I look into?

Thank you comment icon Plant pathology is a very narrow field and part of a diverse agriculture world. As part of botany its more about identifying , naming and diagnosing plant diseases. Some will focus on agriculture crops like corn, wheat, rice, etc while others are more landscape and urban environment oriented with trees, shrubs and turf. The pathology of food storage and transportation, greenhouse and nursery, invasive disease control are just a few other examples. Identifying and naming diseases is one way to go but preventing and treating them is an entirely different story, and probably more in demand. Most Horticulture and agriculture programs at major universities will offer plant pathology as a class within a major. It is also a graduate degree Kate Field

Yarek’s Answer

Botany (study of plants) or Horticulture (improving plant growth) are both good choices.
You might also consider Microbiology, since plant diseases are caused by fungi, bacteria, and viruses.
