Well with you being 14 hun you may or may not be able to get a job but that is not the only way. You can do odd jobs around the neighborhood or even for local businesses and get paid like that. Sometimes even grocery stores will at least let you bag at 14. Also if you have a hobby you do you could either start selling items or using that to create revenue as well. Such as if you know you are good at mowing the lawn, now you can start a quick and easy lawn service and youll be making more money than you thought you could without a job.

Saving money may seem challenging at first, but with determination and a positive mindset, you can absolutely develop a strong saving habit! Implementing these excellent tips can help you get started:

1) If you're a minor, research the minimum age required for employment in your area - this way, you can start earning money earlier and learn valuable skills in the process.
2) Open a savings account in a small bank that doesn't allow you quick access to your money; this will help you resist any temptations to make impulsive withdrawals.
3) Once you've found a job, set up a direct deposit into your savings account; this will make saving automatic and less of a hassle.
4) Lastly, choose a large, heavy book as a secret money storage spot in your room. Collect any money you receive from parents, family members, or birthday presents and stash them away safely. Periodically deposit these funds into your savings account – seeing your savings grow over time will only boost your motivation to keep going!

Remember, consistency is key – the more effort you put into saving, the easier and more satisfying it will become! Keep up the fantastic work, and you'll create a habit that will benefit you for years to come.

Hi, Alex. This is a great question. There are so many creative ways to earn money and save for a car. All three of my kids did this. When they were younger, they made flyers and business cards and talked to neighbors, offering to do any odd jobs. They walked dogs, raked leaves, ran errands in the neighborhood, anything our neighbors couldn't do or didn't have time to do. They key is to solve a problem they have or meet a need they have. They even would hold car washes on Saturday morning outside our house - $5/car. Sounds cheap, but know this - adults love to see kids working. So sometimes their "customers" would tip them. It helps if you put what you are saving for right on the sign - Raising money for my first car, college fund, sports championship. Whatever. Adults will want to help you because most of us have been there when we were young. Good luck!!

Hi Alex,

I would advise you to check out your local/state minimum age requirements for where you live. Being 14, there could be potential jobs you could apply for if you meet that age requirement, such as coffee shops or grocery stores. However, if this is not an option for you where you live, I'd suggest some creative solutions for making some money to get that car you want so badly!

I'd look around your neighborhood to see what sort of "side jobs" could be options for you. Whether it be painting a fence for a neighbor, doing yard work (planting flowers for an elderly neighbor), mowing lawns, etc. A lot of the older generations love kids who put in hard work & they're willing to pay for the services and hustle that kids show. I think it's important to just get your "feet on the street" & get to know the community you live in. Even talking to your friends' parents to see if there's things you can help them do for a few bucks here and there. It's not a bad thing to self-promote your cause and show you're willing to put in hard work.

I wish you the best of luck with your journey!

Hey Alex! That's a fantastic question you've asked! First, I would advise you to check the minimum age requirements for working in your state or city. If you meet those requirements, then you should absolutely go for it and get a job to start earning money for your dream car. When you start earning, set a realistic savings goal and try to save around 70% of what you make.

If you're not quite old enough to work legally yet, don't worry! You can still find creative ways to earn money, like offering to help neighbors with their yard work or snow removal for a fair price. Focus on finding solutions to problems they might have, and you'll not only learn valuable skills but also be on your way to hitting your goal.

Remember, determination and hard work always pay off! Keep your eyes on the prize, and you'll reach your goal before you know it. Good luck, and happy saving!
Thank you comment icon I appreciate this, thank you for the advice. Alex

You can start by putting away money you would receive from birthdays, Christmas, special occasions. Recycling aluminum cans and bottles is also a good way to get some money. Even chores at home or helping out neighbors/grandparents can get you some cash to put away and save for that car. When you're able to apply for a job, put as much as you can away and before you know it, you'll have that car.
